Here are some of my favourite prints from the charm pack!

On the back I used a dark grey flannelette with white polka dots.  The binding is the same as the background.

I quilted straight lines following the chevrons in white thread and just straight in the borders, approximately 0.5" apart.

The front of the quilt used 40 charm squares so I used the other two (a white on white print and a duplicate of a black and white print) to make my label.  Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture of it prior to taking it up to Serge & Sew as a sample - so you'll have to pop into the shop to see it in person :). I love using up the whole package of charms!!!

My Dad has a tabletop telescope which sits on a tripod.  As he's looking at the boats or wildlife going by he likes to slide it around without worrying about the table or poking out his eye.  He used to use two placemats until I made him One Big Star a couple of years ago.  When visiting last month, I thought it would be nice to make a new one so here it is.

Both the centre print and the gold print in the outer border and binding are from the  Holiday Flourish line by Elizabeth Brownd for Robert Kaufman.

I also used the main Christmas ornament print as the backing:

I kept the quilting simple and did vertical lines from top to bottom.

This quilt uses a charm pack - I chose Moda's Bartholo-meow's Reef, added a cream with white polka dots as the background, and the blue with multi-coloured circles and dots by Blank Quilting for the border and binding.

The backing is a white flannel with multi-coloured circles.

I quilted various sizes (and shapes) of loops over the whole quilt.

Big Goose Chase

Big Goose Chase

Pattern:  Tiny 89 by Pieced a Tree Patterns

Size:  56.5" x 67.5"

Flying Geese have always been one of my favourite blocks.  These ones measure at 4" x 8" (finished)

The light print is by Timeless Treasures (Patt #FUN-C8224), the dark green is Northcott Stonehenge (#3951), and the main print used on each side is by Red Rooster Fabrics:  Around Town by Terri Degenkoib of Whimsicals (DSN #24100)

**I found the main print fabric was not quite wide enough to cut the pieces required in the pattern so I adjusted it slightly and cut the narrower side 15.5" wide instead of 16".  It could be because I always preshrink my fabrics or it could just be a fabric that's just a bit narrower to start with.  I also found that, because I quilted it quite heavily, I lost a bit more length & width once I was finished.  I'm guessing it will shrink up a bit more once it goes through the washer & dryer the first couple of times too.  It will still be a good lap size quilt.

I stitched in the ditch around each of the Flying Geese and the echo quilted approximately 0.5" lines.

I did an allover stipple or meander quilting over the main print.

The backing is a flannel from Fabricland.

Tulip Tango

Pattern:  Tulip Tango, Tiny 20, by Pieced Tree Patterns

Size:  12" x 34.5"

It's hard to tell from the photos but the background, binding, and backing fabric is a really beautiful dark greenish-blue batik.  Three of the other four fabrics are from Robert Kaufman and the one with the shimmer (Teal Ice) is by Fabric Freedom.  All the fabrics are from Galena Bay Novelty Fabrics.  I chose to quilt a simple outline in the tulips and meander quite a bit in the background.

Sunnyside - Jelly Wish

Pattern:  Jelly Wish, Tiny 96 by Pieced Tree Patterns

Size:  50" x 60"

This pattern uses a jelly roll almost in it's entirety.  I chose Sunnyside by Kate Spain for Moda.  I quilted it in the ditch using Sulky 733-4014 and then free motion quilted squiggly lines in each bar of fabric - they're not that even but I still love how it turned out overall!

For the backing I used a blue flannel multi colour & size polka dots.  The binding is Botanica by Felicity Miller for Free Spirit, Westminster Fabrics.

Roll Play

Pattern:  Roll Play - Tiny 53 by Pieced Tree Patterns

Size:  48" x 60"

Quilted by Lainey Wilkins of Powell River, BC

Instead of using a jelly roll, I cut my own strips from six different batiks from the Garden Party batik line from Avlyn.  Once it was pieced, I sent it to Lainey Wilkins in Powell River to quilt on her longarm machine.  Some details of the beautiful quilting:

As is my usual practice, I backed this quilt with a flannel - Della Flannel Sun Stones by Free Spirit.  I used the the blue batik with the cranberry print for the binding.

Musical Dreams

I added an extra section to the original pattern to add to the length so this quilt features fours different musical prints.  It is backed with a dark brown flannel.

Here Comes Santa

Size:  9.75" x 43.25"

Pattern:  Butterfly Trail, Tiny 52, by Pieced Tree Patterns

The main fabric is Here Comes Santa by Pat Yuille for Wilmington Prints.  The white is a solid Kona Cotton by Robert Kaufman.  The star buttons are a package (yes, I used a full package!) by Buttons Galore & More.  A little tip:  I laid out all my buttons and glued them with temporary fabric glue to hold them in place until I stitched them so I wouldn't have to figure out their placement again and again.

Christmas in Kyoto

I love Pieced Tree Patterns & Robert Kaufman fabrics!  The poinsettia print and the darkest red are both Robert Kaufman fabrics, the poinsettia, part of the Christmas in Kyoto line, and the red, part of the Fusions Mist line.  The lighter red is by Patrick Lose for Timeless Treasures Fabrics and the gold is Old World Christmas by Fabri-Quilt, Inc.

I also made a co-ordinating "gift bag" using the Cake Therapy Pattern by Cozy Quilt Designs.  The pattern is called "It's a Cinch Bag" and it was quick & easy to make.
