Just One Slab

Size:  15.5" x 15.5"

Here's my slab - well my first one.  I'm hoping to make a couple more at least before my package goes out in the mail to Cheryl Arkison of Dining Room Empire Blog.  You can read all the details about the project to help Southern Alberta on her blog at www.naptimequilter.blogspot.com
The slab block is inspired from The Missing U quilt from the book Sunday Morning Quilts by Amanda Jean Nyberg & Cheryl Arkison.
It was a fun block to make & especially great knowing it is going to a fantastic cause!

Happy Quilting - hope you can make a slab too!

Boxed In

Pattern:  Boxed In (Tiny 61) by Pieced Tree Patterns
Size:  51.5" x 51.5"

This quilt was made with a package of Northcott's Stonehenge Stone Strips in jewel tones and Stonehenge Stone Chips    (Caribbean/Mojave/Colorado/Mother Earth/Amazon/Glacier).  It was a fun & easy pattern, especially since I pieced it and Lainey Wilkins of Galena Bay Novelty Fabrics did the quilting on her longarm machine.  She also put on the binding.

Here's a close up of some of the quilting!

Watch for more of our joint projects in the future.

Happy Quilting!

A Sampling of Geese Tote

This started as me trying out my new Bloc Loc 2x4 Flying Geese Ruler (which I absolutely love!) I was just going to make a couple of blocks to try it and then get back to work on a UFO or a shop sample  - however - 48 blocks later...
I used the free pattern from www.mccallsquilting.com (I just used the one side of the tote and made it twice and added pockets to the lining).  Here is the other side:
If you look closely, the tote contains Fusions Mist in Evening & Sky (Robert Kaufman) plus various other blues from my scrap stash so it's gone to Galena Bay Novelty Fabrics to be a shop sample for a bit (no more guilt for me :))

Happy Quilting!

Snowy Day Quilt

And the Christmas samples have begun...

This is the Snowy Day Quilt from the book Ho Ho Ho Let It Snow by Art To Heart (Nancy Halverson)
Size:  26 1/2" x 35 1/4"

The background fabric is Karma Baby by Mint Blossom for Northcott.
The snowman and snowflakes fabric is First Frost by Karen Montgomery for Timeless Treasure Fabrics, Inc.
The snowflakes also have Sweet Tea for Anthology Fabrics, Fairy Frost for Michael Miller Fabrics, and Stonehenge for Northcott.
The scarf and carrot nose are both from Bobbins and Bits by Pat Sloan.

The big buttons are approximately 1 3/8" and are Favorite Findings Big Fun (from my stash & a gift from a friend)

On the back I used a green flannel with white snowflakes from my stash (sorry I don't remember where it's from).

I meandered over the background, stitched in the ditched around the snowflakes and randomly stitched over the snowman.

The binding is the same as the background fabric.

Happy Quilting!

In Motion Blue Flames

You're going to see these oven mitts again very soon - probably in Christmas fabrics :). These are the Hot Stuff Oven Mitts by Vanilla House Designs.  The main fabric is In Motion Blue Flames by Elizabeth's Studio and the trim is made from Free Spirit Color Connectors by Heide Stoll-Weber.  I used Insul-Bright inside.

Soccer Balls & Flames

My nephew just turned five so I made him a new shirt with this fabric from David Textiles.  The pattern is McCalls M6548 view A.
