Marsala Chubby Churn Dash Mini

**Edited Apr 24/15 to change out the photos:

"Marsala Chubby Churn Dash Mini"

Pattern by Fig Tree & Co
Size:  23.75" x 23.75"

I'm going to start off by apologizing for the photos as it's been cloudy here all day and I'm always afraid of technical issues to leave trying to post to the last minute to wait until tomorrow to hope for better ones.  I may be able to replace them at a later date :)

This quilt is my entry for the 2015 Pantone Quilt Challenge.  You'll be able to see all the entries at either:
www.onthewindyside.co.nz
Or
www.play-craft.com

Most of the fabrics were from my stash, including the sashing and binding fabric which is Floragraphix II by Jason Yenter.
The background and backing is Robert Kaufman's Quilter's Linen in gray, one of my favourite fabrics to use as a background.  I used both the right side of the batik in some of the churn dashes (with the gold flecks) and some with the wrong side of the batik as well, in order to have more Marsala fabrics.

I did stitching in the ditch and straight-line quilting in a symmetrical but unevenly spaced design so that some cross-hatching was formed.  All quilting was done in Aurifil 2600, 50wt., and I used Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 batting.

The binding was attached by machine and hand-stitched to the back.

Happy Quilting!

Lucky Stars Mini in Simply Style

"Lucky Stars Mini in Simply Style"

Pattern by:  Vanessa Christenson
Size:  12.5" x 14.5"

I fell in love with Vanessa Christenson's Lucky Stars Mini quilt which was shown in Love Patchwork & Quilting Magazine, Issue 16, made up in one of her newest line of fabrics, Color Theory.  My LQS only had Layer Cakes of Color Theory and I couldn't justify buying one to cut a mini charm pack out of it since I'm trying to shop from my stash (a charm pack would have been ok, a mini charm pack would have been perfect!)  Then I remembered I had scraps of Simply Style by V & Co, and got to work.

For the white and the backing I used fat quarters from my stash - I don't have any information about them

I quilted the entire quilt with 50 wt Aurifil 2024 (white) in a cross-hatch pattern.

Happy Quilting!

Serge & Sew Colour of the Month - Apple-licious

"Apple-licious"

Pattern by Lori Holt
Book:  Quilty Fun, pg 66
Size:  11.5" x 20.5"

I only made six of the blocks (and no border) although it's still on my list to make in full one day.  The background is Moda grunge and the rest of the fabrics (except the pink) came from my scrap bins.

April's Colour of the Month at Serge & Sew is pink - the fabric is really a fushia colour and used in this apple.

For the backing I used this cute text print - "Snug as a Bug" by Melly & Me for Riley Blake.

The binding was previously made (and rejected) from a prior project but I think it works perfectly with this one.  I did a simple cross-hatch 60 degree quilting pattern with Aurifil 2024.

Happy Quilting!
