Mini Radio Wave

Mini Radio Wave
Pattern by Jaybird Quilts
Size:  13" x 18"

Lately I've been trying to use up my scraps so for this project I used scraps of gray Quilter's Linen (Robert Kaufman) for my background and a partial pack of charm squares - Noteworthy by Sweetwater for Moda.  It worked out well as the pieces needed were small and I had some small leftover pieces from previous projects as well as some whole charm squares.

For the back I pieced together the few charm squares I had left and added some white & gray print to make up the difference (& a hanging sleeve).

Even though the pieces are small, you can still catch some words & phrases when you look closely.

I also saved enough of a charm square to use as my label:

I quilted horizontally, vertically, and diagonally.

Zippy Strippy

Pattern:  Zippy Strippy by Atkinson Designs
Size:  11.5"w x 6"h x 4"d (large) - also in small & medium on the pattern
Buttons:  Dress It Up - Playful Puppies
and Dress It Up - Button Fun - 1841 (paws)

This little bag went together quickly with three prints from the Naughty Puppies line from Camelot Fabrics.  For contrast along the top, I used Optical Illusions by Debra Dunn & Michael Mrowka for Timeless Treasures which allowed the buttons to really stand out.

Close up of a couple of the buttons:

I will definitely be making more of these pouches in the future - probably in all three sizes.

This is a little kit I purchased at Snip & Stitch.  It is paper-pieced & I added the double buttons for eyes.  I will attach it to my Mom's birthday card as a keepsake this year.

Dog Collar Bandanas

Dog Collar Bandanas
www.craftycritique.com

I think this is the project I'm most excited about so far this year & it's not a quilt!  It makes my boys look so handsome & are safer as the bandana slides over the collar instead of being tied around their necks.  They are also so quick and easy to make.

A couple more I made to send to my friend's miniature pinchers.

Hungry Bunny Pattern

This cute little zippered bunny pouch is perfect for Easter or anytime.  I made a couple of little changes - I added a layer of fusible fleece to give it a little more structure, appliquéd a round circle to the back for a tail, and appliquéd the nose on  at the same time as the ears (instead of stitching it on at the end).  It made the ears a little harder to turn but I just took my time and it was definitely possible.

Elvis Tote Bag

Elvis Tote Bag
Size:  12.5" x 18"
Craft Panel by VIP Cranston

I was at Fabricland in the Liquidation section and came across this craft panel for an Elvis Tote Bag.  It's a heavyweight cotton duck fabric.  I chose to add a lining with a fabric from my stash (cotton from Northcott Silk).

It will be a birthday present for my aunt in June - shhh!

Garden Lattice Mini Quilt

Garden Lattice Mini Quilt
Size:  17.75" x 17.75"
Pattern by Cindy Lammon
www.hyacinthquiltdesigns.blogspot.ca

On her blog, Cindy gives the cutting dimensions for the mini version of her Garden Lattice Quilt from her book Simply Modern Christmas.  I couldn't wait to make this mini and used some leftover batiks from a previous project.  The blocks went together quickly and before I knew it I was ready to quilt it.

I used a bamboo/cotton batting as I had a remnant just the right size.  For the backing I used a white on white floral from my stash - also just the right size!  Again, I've kept the quilting quite basic - stitching in the ditch.

One more picture - just because I like it :)

Plus Quilt Pillow

Plus Quilt Pillow
Size:  16.5" x 16.5"
Purchased pillow form:  16" x 16"

I just played with my green scrap bin the other day and about a metre of fabric from my stash for backing (including backing the front for quilting), & binding.  I love the look of all the plus quilts that have been popping up everywhere and have one on my list to do at some point but for now, my couch gets a new pillow.

I made an envelope style back which I also added batting to and quilted simply with 1/2" lines.

Here's a close up:

Each square finishes at 1".

Somehow my green scrap bin seems to have just as many scraps as when I started?!?

Happy Quilting!
