Sunnyside - Jelly Wish

Pattern:  Jelly Wish, Tiny 96 by Pieced Tree Patterns
Size:  50" x 60"

This pattern uses a jelly roll almost in it's entirety.  I chose Sunnyside by Kate Spain for Moda.  I quilted it in the ditch using Sulky 733-4014 and then free motion quilted squiggly lines in each bar of fabric - they're not that even but I still love how it turned out overall!

For the backing I used a blue flannel multi colour & size polka dots.  The binding is Botanica by Felicity Miller for Free Spirit, Westminster Fabrics.

I think my favourite print in this line may be this text print (& it does appear in several colour-ways):

So I've come across another challenge (&  this time not the week it ends).  I have an idea already and here are the fabrics I've pulled to start with:

Science Fair Made Mini

Original Pattern:  Science Fair by Jaybird Quilts
Size:  10.75" x 13.25"

Although Jaybird Quilts has released some mini patterns recently, I couldn't wait any longer to do a mini Science Fair. I used the smallest Half Hex and Triangle on my Hex N More ruler and the layout for the baby quilt on the regular pattern.

The quilting is straight lines - in the ditch and a 1/4" on each side - all in grey thread.  The binding is cut on the bias and is the same fabric as the background and the backing - Robert Kaufman's "Quilter's Linen".  The prints and solids are all from my scrap bin but are mostly Robert Kaufman too.

It makes me want to move my king-size Science Fair to the front of the line :)

Mosaic Tiles Made Mini

Pattern:  Mosaic Tiles by Sukie Newbold from the book Modern Bee by Lindsay Conner (Original Size:  60.5" x 60.5")

Size:  12.25" x 12.125" (I think I got a bit carried away while squaring up)

Last Sunday night I discovered the Mosaic Tiles Quilt Along and contest being hosted by www.craftbuds.com.  Of course it started back in December and the deadline is this Friday - I always do better with a deadline :).  As I've been inspired by all the mini quilts that designers such as Jaybird Quilts and Thimble Blossoms (Camille Roskelley) have recently released, I decided to do a mini version of Mosaic Tiles.  I used Moda Basicgrey for the background and scraps from my Moda High Street fat quarter bundle for the main fabrics and the binding.

This photo has a quarter next to it in order to get perspective of how small the pieces actually are.

This is the back with all the seam allowances (pressed open) before I sandwiched it for quilting.

I ended up stitching in the ditch - it was all it needed!  And then some echo quilting on the cross.

One final picture of the completed quilt:

Love Letters Quilt

Love Letters Quilt by Sweetwater from the book Sew Red, Sewing & Quilting for Women's Heart Health
Size:  35.5" x 35.5"

The main fabric used for the border and binding is Holiday Banners by The RBD Designers for Riley Blake Designs.  I had planned on just making a couple of heart blocks but I had a lot of reds & pinks in my scrap bin so before I knew it, I had enough for the whole quilt & I had to go & get more of the heart fabric for the border & binding :)

Backing:  I used a sweet white flannel print with grey hearts.
